Dela is undoubtedly one of the artists with an incomparable vocal capability in the Kenyan music industry. Known for her stellar Swahili cover of Adele’s “Hello”, she earned massive recognition and mentions from a number of reputable international websites and blogs among them Hello Giggle, CNN, Elle and Marie Claire. Making her third appearance on Coke Studio Africa this year, she features on the ‘Global Fusion Edition’ alongside Global R&B/Pop icon Jason Derulo, among other African stars. Last year on the show, she performed alongside Patoranking from Nigeria and Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania.


Dela’s launch into the Kenyan music industry in 2008 was her hit collaboration with Afro Pop band Sauti Sol in the single “Mama Papa”. The success of this song and her vocal performance got her wide recognition and she was signed to Penya Africa under the producer Waweru. This would culminate to the release of her debut album “Paukwa” in 2010 which had hit singles among them “War in my heart” and “Weche Tek”.  In 2015, Dela rebranded as an Afro-pop artist under the Taurus Musik group.  This new sound has endeared her to the masses as evident in the wide airplay on various African Radio and T.V stations of her hit songs “Mafeelings” and “Third Party Lover”. She is currently riding high with her latest release “Ahadi Zako”.


Her powerful message in her songs has seen her work with the UN Habitat Messengers of Truth followed by a tour and play in Istanbul at the Youth Congress. Her 2009 tour across Europe saw her perform in sold out concerts in. Dela has headlined concerts locally among them SawaSawa festival, Blankets and Wine and Idols showcasing her musical prowess.


Dela was born as Adeline Maranga twenty six years ago. She started her career at the tender age of 7 performing in her church choir. With her vocal prowess, Dela started getting recognition in the music industry and developed her talent by singing background vocals for renowned artists among them Achieng Abura, Wahu and the Villagers Band.
