Schweppes was founded by a German-born Swiss jeweller and amateur scientist named Jacob Schweppe, who discovered a way of producing carbonated water on a commercial scale.

Although the brand is owned by Cadbury Schweppes in the UK, it is marketed and produced by Coca-Cola in South Africa, where it is ranked as the country’s fifth most popular soft drink brand*.

The world leader in mixers, the iconic Schweppes range includes Indian Tonic Water, Ginger Ale, Bitter Lemon, Dry Lemon, Soda Water, Lemonade, Tomato Juice Mix, as well Cranberry and Raspberry Juice. In addition, certain flavours have a diet option.

Designed for a sophisticated adult palette, the mixers are less sweet and have fewer artificial flavours. Citric and effervescent, they are ideal for any cocktail or tall drink. As a brand that symbolises classic style and good taste, Schweppes is aligned with assets like the J&B Met and Durban July. Other drivers are mixer promotions and on-premise consumption activities.
